Medical Claims Appeals / AR Specialist

ENT and Allergy Associates, New York & New Jersey's premier ENT and Allergy medical practice, is seeking a self-motivated,  people-friendly full time Accounts Receivable Insurance Collector for our Corporate office.

Seeking a skilled Follow Up/Medical Collector. If you have extensive knowledge and experience in the medical collections and follow up process, this is the perfect position for you.

Role Expectations: 

  • Responsibilities include all follow up aspects of AR for your carrier
  • Research anomalies in the AR
  • F/U and investigate denials
  • Submission of 1st and 2nd level appeals and f/u to completion
  • Timely submission and F/U of claims and corrected claims
  • Creating and following up of tasks
  • Update patient demographics
  • Verify benefits through Phreesia and Insurance Websites
  • F/U on insurance overpayments and complete insurance/patient refunds if applicable
  • Notify management of any carrier patterns or issues with fee schedules
  • Scanning
  • Post Deductibles, copay’s, coinsurance, and move money as needed.
  • Keeping current and compliant with billing and HIPPA regulations
  • Remain informed as changes in coding rules/guidelines for your carrier and keep management updated of any changes
  • Covering areas where a collector may be absent (cross training)
  • Developing and Maintaining Relationships with Carriers (sending candy etc.)
  • Attending Meetings with insurance carriers and management if necessary.
  • Collectors will be responsible for working reports for targeted areas, contacting insurance carriers, identifying the issues in detail, processing the encounters in the appropriate manner and keeping management informed as to any type of problems that they may have identified. When this is done they may suggest solutions to the problems if any.
